I am a BJ Fogg Behavior Design Boot Camp alumna
and LICENSED Tiny Habits® Coach
How this all started . . .
(a timeline from my first 3 tiny habits to the present)
On Behavior Design
I am a June 2012 Behavior Design (formerly Persuasion) Boot Camp alumna. I apply the Fogg Method and other elements of behavior design developed by BJ Fogg, a Behavior Scientist at Stanford University, in my specialty areas of focus and interests -
applied improv for an improv habits mindset
environmental health & safety (EH&S)
equity and representation
professional development and career shifts
servant leadership
Chemical Engineers can be natural Behavior Designers. My Chemical Engineering brain perked up during Boot Camp. With a ChemE degree from UC Berkeley (and yes, it was an intense curriculum) – think chemical reactions, systems and process analyses, specificity, environmental conditions, and interdependencies – I recognized similarities in the thought process of behavior design. Turns out, having a ChemE mindset makes it easy and fun to deep dive into and apply BJ’s behavior design models, methods, and maxims.
BJ’s boot camp provides me the non-ChemE language to apply and express how behavior shifts can evolve and emerge in my specialty areas of focus and interests. I bring my curiosity, enthusiasm, and natural tendency to connect people, places, and activities in a variety of settings.
On Tiny Habits®
In 2013, I became one of the first certified coaches. In January 2018, I was one of the first coaches to onboard more than 250 Habiteers for BJ’s 5-Day Tiny Habits® Program, with more than 120 Habiteers completing the 5-day session during their initial or follow-up week.
I not only bring my expertise in coaching the Tiny Habits method but also my behavior design and specialty areas of focus and interests. What this means? I approach habit formation with —
the natural feeling to serve first
the fun of improv
care for the environment
fairness for individuals
— and the knowing that change happens.
I help folks see how to connect the dots from learning the Tiny Habits method to applying it in their personal and professional life. I help folks navigate how to connect what BJ shares in his book - Tiny Habits: The Small Things that Change Everything - and apply it in their life.
